More chat options?
I've experienced that, while playing PuG, the list of '... dropped a ... which your team assigns to ...' can grow pretty fast. That combined with a Guild or Alliance conversation isn't fun... so I was thinking, another tick-off box to show, or not show the drop stuff?

There are certainly better ideas for modifying chat than this one. We could use at least one more channel for recruiting, and I'd like to see some additions to the local and team chat such as a slightly different color when someone from your guild/alliance speaks (not drastically different like a new channel color, just maybe a darker color of the particular channel).
Aside from loot (which is nice to know because hey, what if you get an ecto?), dropping stuff is important to be aware of. You need to know if someone's dropped your flag in GvG, if someone's dropping a resbomb in AB, or if someone's dropping the Urn or Spear in Arborstone, Boreas, or Sunjiang, etc.

Theres usually about 3-4 guilds recruiting in kamadan/la etc. Thats not enough to require a whole channel devoted to it imo. On the other hand... this would be more useful, and I would /sign this... except its still a bit of a waste imo.

I agree with the idea of further char options, though it would also be nice to have the ability to turn off the secondary team's team chat also in Vizunah Square, Unwaking Waters and Alliance Battles. There is nothing more annoying than having several people on one team in Vizunah spamming every single movement.
I do agree with the idea of the green text, it would be a nice option.

The "Foo dropped a Bar which your team assigns to I Baz I." and to a lesser extent "We Are So Witty [Duh] has won a battle in the Hall of Heroes." are useless clutter on the screen that I would gladly turn off should I have the option to do so.
One word for those who are afraid of missing phat loot if babbling is turned off: Shortcuts.

That would be a marvelous update. I would just make it show items dropped for me only all other news I would remove.

wouldn't it be better to have each chat keep its own module? as in only display text of that color, like different chats on AIM or yahoo or [insert messenger here]. so you can switch back and forth without losing any conversation from "blah has won in the hall of monuments" and it'd be nice if you could seperate them as AIM windows too so we wouldn't have to keep up multi-stranded conversations if we want to talk in any of the 2 or more chat options.

pretty sure this green text you want gone would never happen. this is basically called the universal/global text. which is how anet talks to you (new game updates) this is also important for the pvp. every 8 mins it brodcasts who won HoH, while to some of you pve kids this is not important, it does play a part in the game, and half the time no one reads it anyways. as for the hiding text idea, its already in game, by clicking the check box on or off, you can hide or show text.
and yes there should be a guild channel for text in towns. that way you can /report for spamming if they dont use it and still use local chat.

We don't want it to disappear, we want to ability to hide that green text... and yes we do know you can turn off certain chats... and the pve kids comment was kinda wrong... i'm pretty sure a high percentage is 25+ in pve, and visa versa
